Licensed Marriage and Family TherapistLMFT48084

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist which may be verified at www.bbs.ca.gov. I received my master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2004. My earliest work involved working with children with autism and their families. I spent the next several years working with at risk youth trying to help prevent incarceration by providing therapy to the youth and to their families. I then transitioned into providing therapy to couples, families, and individuals of all ages. My work is firmly rooted in the systemic approach and draws from other practice theories as needed including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Strategic Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). My main passion and focus for the last 8 years has been with trauma work and I am certified in EMDR. This certification was issued by EMDRIA and may be verified at www.emdria.org. I also have cultural competency treating First Responders.

About the Therapy Process

Psychotherapy is a process in which the therapist and patient discuss a myriad of issues, events, experiences and memories for the purpose of creating positive change so the patient can experience his or her life more fully. It provides an opportunity to better and more deeply understand oneself, as well as any problems or difficulties you may be experiencing. Psychotherapy is a joint effort between the patient and therapist. Progress and success may vary depending upon the particular problems or issues being addressed, as well as many other factors.
